We want to honour ourselves by beating Niger today! – Coach Otto Addo
Black Stars coach Otto Addo has vowed to secure a victory against Niger in Ghana’s final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, aiming to restore the team’s pride despite their inability to qualify for the tournament.
Ghana’s hopes for AFCON qualification were dashed following a 1-1 draw against Angola last Friday, officially ending their bid to participate in next year’s tournament, which will be held in Morocco.
However, the team is set to face Niger on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium, where they will aim for a win to secure third place in Group F.
At a pre-match press conference on Sunday, Mr Addo emphasized the significance of a strong finish, saying, “We are looking forward to beating Niger, not to end up last.
We want to beat them for our honour and third place.”
The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
Ghana currently occupies fourth place in Group F with three points from five matches, having drawn three games and lost two.
