Ghana has showcased its culture, tourism and creative economy at the “Ghana Month at Kuriftu African Village” event held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The three-day tourism and trade promotion programme brought together government officials, diplomats, investors, creatives and tourism stakeholders to strengthen relations between Ghana and Ethiopia through culture, tourism, trade and Pan-African collaboration.

The event was organised by Tyobista Girma, founder of Bridge54, coordinated by Rex Omar, and hosted by Ethiopian hospitality entrepreneur Tadiwos Belete.

A high-level panel discussion on the theme “Ghana and Ethiopia: Why This Conversation Matters Now” featured Robert Afriyie, Ethiopia’s Tourism State Minister Silesh Girma, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey.

A second discussion focused on “Culture, Tourism and the Creative Industry as an Economic Driver” and featured Rex Omar, media personality Kwabena Anokye Adisi, and Tadiwos Belete.

Participants highlighted the growing importance of tourism and the creative economy in driving economic transformation, creating jobs for young people and promoting African identity on the global stage.

The event also featured exhibitions of Ghanaian fashion, textiles, arts, crafts, music, cuisine and chocolate tasting experiences, showcasing the country’s cultural heritage and tourism potential.

Organisers noted that one of the major outcomes of the programme was successful collaboration discussions between the Ghana Tourism Authority and EBS TV, one of Ethiopia’s leading media networks with an audience reach of more than 30 million viewers across Ethiopia and the global Ethiopian diaspora
