John Dumelo pays tribute to late actress Beverly Afaglo, highlights her pivotal role in his career

Former actor and Deputy Minister for Agriculture John Dumelo has paid tribute to late actress Beverly Afaglo following news of her death.

In a Facebook post, Dumelo reflected on how he met Beverly Afaglo about 20 years ago on the set of the television series About to Wed in Dzorwulu, Accra, where they acted alongside Prince David Osei and Yvonne Okyere.

According to him, Beverly played an important role in his acting career by recommending him for a role in the popular movie King is Mine.

“Bev calls and says ‘John, call Salam (movie producer), they need someone to play the role of a King’. That’s how I got to star in the movie ‘King is Mine’ and the rest they say is history,” he explained.

Dumelo thanked the late actress for her support and contribution to his career, adding that her name would feature prominently if he ever decides to write a book about his life.

“I am glad you are resting peacefully now. I will always dey 4 u,” he added.

Beverly Afaglo’s death was announced on Sunday by her husband, musician Eugene Baah, popularly known as Choirmaster of the Praye music group. 

According to Beverly's manager, she died after a two-year battle with cancer.
