Highlife musician and Director of the Black Star Experience at the Presidency, Rex Omar, has called on Ghanaians and Nigerians to strengthen their relationship and avoid generalising Nigerians based on the actions of a few individuals.

In a Facebook post, Rex Omar described Nigerians as Ghana’s “closest siblings” on the African continent, saying the two countries may compete, disagree, and argue at times, but still share a strong bond.

He said the perception that Nigerians are frequently associated with crime should not lead to the conclusion that all Nigerians are bad people, adding that Nigeria’s large population often contributes to the visibility of such incidents.

According to him, Nigerians have also made significant contributions across various fields in Africa and are among the continent’s brightest talents.

Rex Omar urged both countries to support each other rather than be judgmental, stressing that stronger cooperation between Ghana and Nigeria could contribute to Africa’s political and economic progress.

“For the day Ghana and her sibling Nigeria get their act together, Africa will be free both politically and economically,” he wrote.
