Nigerian music superstar Tekno — known for hits like Pana, Skeletun, and Wayo, as well as collaborations with the likes of Beyoncé, Drake, and Kizz Daniel — returns today with the smooth and reflective single Matter.

The track is the latest drop from his forthcoming album Where Did Love Go?, which is set for release June 19, 2026 on emPawa Africa.

The self-produced Matter leans into the rhythmic simplicity that has long defined Tekno’s sound, reminding audiences why he remains one of Afrobeats’ most crucial voices a decade after he broke through globally with his genre-defining hit Pana.

Warm, groove-led, and intentionally uncomplicated, the track captures the feeling of two people locked into their own world, unaffected by outside noise.

Musically, the mid-tempo track blends the infectious pon-pon sound that typified Afrobeats during the genre’s mid 2010s explosion with contemporary flavours from Pop and Amapiano and an infectious chorus in Tekno’s trademark style.

Matter follows last month’s release of Bamboo and Press Button, twin singles which established the story-driven arc of Where Did Love Go? ahead of its June release.

The album — largely produced by Tekno himself, with a handful of additional contributors including Press Button producer Yung Willis — is Tekno’s third, and his first since aligning with fellow Afropop icon Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa in 2024 as an artist-investor.
