Agbodza fumes over delays on key road projects
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has issued a stern warning to contractors working under the government’s Big Push infrastructure initiative, cautioning that poor performance could lead to contract termination, legal action, and reassignment of projects.
The warning follows a working tour of the Bono, Savannah, and Upper West regions, where the Minister observed slow execution, delayed mobilisation, and unmet commitments on several road projects.
He criticised what he described as a growing trend of contractors taking on projects without the capacity or intention to complete them, warning that such practices will no longer be tolerated.
Maripoma Construction was among those singled out, with the Minister questioning the company’s level of commitment and professionalism.
Mr Agbodza also expressed concern over the pace of work on the Wenchi–Bole–Wa Highway, a major corridor expected to improve connectivity between the Bono and Savannah regions.
He stressed that government will take decisive steps to ensure contractors meet agreed timelines and deliver value for money under the programme.
