An intelligence-led operation by the Ghana Police Service in Ashaiman has led to the arrest of seven suspects linked to a recent robbery and the alleged supply of arms to criminal networks.

The operation, carried out on April 30, 2026, at about 6:20 PM, follows a robbery incident at the Ashaiman Main Marketon April 20, 2026. Acting on intelligence, police identified a location known as “New York,” where a suspected arms supplier was believed to be operating.

A team led by District Commander Orlando Joseph Adzokpa and District Crime Officer Ibrahim Bukari, along with investigators, an Alpha Patrol team and Community Police Assistants, proceeded to the location.

On arrival, the suspects - Prince Owusu (30), Mohammed Ali (22), Isaac Doe (30), Ahmed Mondy (25), Aziz Abubakar (18), and Frank Wokrachie (21) - were seen at a drinking spot. Police said they attempted to flee, causing damage to property including a snooker table, a glass door and a wooden fence.

All six suspects were arrested, along with a female suspect, Gifty Ladzagla, believed to be the operator of the bar.

A search of Ladzagla’s chamber and hall apartment led to the retrieval of twelve wraps of suspected narcotic substances, two iPhones, one Android phone, two cutlasses, three knives, four pairs of military camouflage long-sleeve shirts and two pairs of camouflage trousers.

Police also impounded two unregistered Honda “jungle” motorbikes from the premises.

All suspects are in custody assisting with investigations, while the retrieved items have been secured as exhibits. Police say the suspects will be screened and those found culpable will be prosecuted.

The Command said such intelligence-led operations will continue as part of efforts to address criminal activities and improve security in the area.
