The Ghana Police Service has issued a strong warning to individuals involved in criminal activities to surrender their weapons and abandon unlawful acts as security agencies step up operations to combat crime nationwide.

Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, said the Police Service remains committed to tracking down offenders and ensuring the safety of citizens across the country.

According to him, advancements in modern policing and intelligence gathering mean criminals can no longer operate freely or find safe hiding places.

The IGP gave the assurance on Tuesday, May 19, when the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana presented him with a plaque and citation in recognition of his efforts in the fight against crime.

President of the group, Edward Ofori-Agyemang, praised the Police Administration for its continued operations against criminal activities, particularly attacks targeting mobile money agents.

He further urged the Police Service to sustain its enforcement efforts to improve protection and security for mobile money vendors across the country.

“We want to sound a strong warning to criminals wherever they are that we will not give up in our endeavour to ensure the protection of Ghanaians in general. They should lay down their arms and stop committing crimes, because whatever they do and wherever they hide in this modern day of policing, they can run but they cannot hide,” he said.
