The Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa North, James Agalga, has been appointed the new Majority Leader in Parliament.

The appointment follows President John Dramani Mahama's nomination of Mahama Ayariga as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs-designate.

That nomination required Mr Ayariga to resign as Majority Leader.

Mr Agalga, a former Deputy Minister for the Interior, will now lead the Majority side in Parliament.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds a commanding majority of 185 seats in the 9th Parliament of Ghana's 4th Republic.
