Unposted environmental health officers and assistants begin picketing over employment concerns
The demonstration, which is taking place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, began at Independence Square, with members marching towards the Ministry of Local Government as part of their protest.
The group is demanding immediate posting and absorption into the public sector, citing prolonged delays in recruitment and uncertainty over their employment status.
The officers and assistants say the situation has left many qualified professionals unemployed despite completing the required training and certification.
According to the Association, the picketing forms part of efforts to draw government’s attention to what they describe as unfair delays in postings and to press for clear timelines for deployment.
