Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea explores deeper healthcare collaboration at KOFIH roundtable

Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea, Kojo Choi, has participated in the 2026 Ambassadors’ Roundtable hosted by the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH), aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the health sector.

The event, organised in collaboration with South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare South Korea and key public health institutions, provided a platform for diplomatic engagements and knowledge sharing on advanced healthcare systems.

During the roundtable, Ambassador Choi engaged with stakeholders to gain insights into South Korea’s healthcare delivery model, including its national health insurance system, medical training frameworks, digital health innovations, and public health infrastructure.

He also used the opportunity to present Ghana’s healthcare priorities and outlined areas for expanded collaboration, while expressing appreciation for ongoing support from KOFIH.

The Ambassador highlighted several interventions by KOFIH in Ghana, including support for the establishment of a Biomedical Engineering Workshop at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, aimed at improving the maintenance of medical equipment and training local engineers.

He further noted a five-year partnership that has enhanced laparoscopic surgery capacity in Ghana, with several Ghanaian medical professionals benefiting from training and improved access to advanced surgical procedures in public hospitals.

Ambassador Choi said the engagements reaffirm Ghana’s commitment to deepening cooperation with South Korea, particularly in leveraging technology and expertise to strengthen healthcare delivery.

He emphasised that ongoing collaborations demonstrate tangible results and expressed optimism about expanding partnerships to further improve healthcare outcomes in Ghana.
