President John Dramani Mahama has held bilateral talks with Lee Jae-myung, reaffirming the longstanding partnership between Ghana and South Korea.

The meeting culminated in the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding covering maritime security, climate change cooperation and digital technology, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two countries.

During the discussions, President Mahama highlighted the shared history, democratic values and mutual commitment to human rights that have continued to deepen relations between the two nations.

He noted that these common values have enabled Ghana and South Korea to cooperate closely within multilateral organisations such as the United Nations, where both countries often advance similar positions on key global issues.

The President also emphasised expanding cooperation in agriculture and agribusiness, particularly through initiatives supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency, which are aimed at boosting rice production and improving food security in Ghana.

He further pointed to opportunities for stronger economic partnerships through the African Continental Free Trade Area, whose secretariat is hosted in Accra, positioning the country as a strategic hub for manufacturing and exports to the wider African market.

President Mahama expressed optimism that Ghana’s natural and human resources, combined with South Korea’s technological innovation, would continue to drive mutually beneficial cooperation and support sustainable growth and shared prosperity between the two countries.
