PROSSU Ghana backs GFA decision, rallies support for Black Stars
The Progressive Sports Supporters Union of Ghana (PROSSU Ghana) says it fully supports the Ghana Football Association (GFA) decision to part ways with head coach Otto Addo, calling it a difficult but necessary step to restructure and strengthen the team’s technical direction.
Speaking at a press conference on behalf of the union chairman, IT Officer Alexander Macaulay urged the technical and management teams to treat the change as a wake-up call to re-strategise and restore public confidence.
He called on Ghanaians at home and abroad to rally behind the Black Stars, stressing that national unity is critical at this stage.
The union said the Black Stars’ recent performance in international friendlies ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup fell below expectations, hence the need for the GFA’s decision.
As part of its support, PROSSU Ghana recently visited the National Chief Imam to seek spiritual backing for the Black Stars, and also engaged the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the GFA.
The union further appealed to corporate institutions and benevolent organisations to partner and support the Black Stars in their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
It urged all Ghanaians to back the national team, saying, “Together we can rebuild confidence, restore pride, and achieve success on the global stage.”
