Mahama begins official visit to France, holds high-level talks in Paris
President John Dramani Mahama has begun a one-day official visit to Paris, holding high-level discussions with key French officials aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
The visit commenced with a meeting between the Ghanaian leader and Gérard Larcher, where he was accorded a military welcome before engaging in bilateral talks.
Discussions focused on deepening trade and investment cooperation, enhancing regional security, and intensifying efforts to combat terrorism.
The two sides also explored France’s support for Ghana in areas such as maternal health and agriculture, alongside recent improvements in Ghana’s economic performance.
President Mahama is accompanied by a delegation including Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, National Security Advisor Prosper Bani, Secretary to the President Callistus Mahama, Presidential Advisor Joyce Bawah Mogtari, and Ghana’s Ambassador to France Mavis Frimpong.
Later in the day, President Mahama is expected to meet with Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, where further discussions will be held to advance cooperation between Ghana and France.
