Mahama requests full Fourth Estate report on Big Push contracts
President John Dramani Mahama has directed his office to obtain the full report from The Fourth Estate following its exposé on procurement processes under the government’s Big Push programme.
Speaking at a meeting with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) at Jubilee House, the President said his administration has only seen parts of the investigation and will review the full report.
“Although we have seen snippets of the investigation from the media, I have instructed my office to obtain the full detailed report from the Fourth Estate and to conduct a study of the various allegations presented in the report,” he said.
He explained that sole sourcing is allowed under Ghana’s procurement laws in some cases, but added that open and transparent tendering is better for ensuring competitive pricing and value for money.
The Big Push programme, a major infrastructure initiative, has drawn public attention, and the government’s response is expected to be closely monitored.
The President said any action taken will be based on the full report from the Fourth Estate and a response from the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
