The First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, officially commissioned the newly renovated Anyima Health Centre, unveiling a modern mother and child facility that is set to serve thousands of residents in Anyima and surrounding communities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs Mahama highlighted that the commissioning is part of the Lordina Foundation’s ongoing efforts to expand access to quality healthcare, particularly for maternal and infant care.

She noted that this marks the sixth health facility built or renovated by the foundation nationwide, alongside projects in Bole, Nkoranza South, Bodom, Asukawkaw, and the Adabraka Health Centre in Hohoe Zongo.

The first lady also shared the personal significance of the project, revealing her family ties to the area. “Today’s commissioning holds a special place in my heart because this is my home area. Jema-Ampoma nearby is where my late mother, Abena Gyamfua, comes from,” she said.

Mrs Mahama announced that the launch of President John Dramani Mahama’s Primary Health Care Programmewill provide free medical services at facilities such as Anyima, with the goal of increasing healthcare utilisation, encouraging early disease detection, and reducing costs for families.

The renovated centre now features an Out-Patient Department, consulting and examination rooms, delivery and labour wards, children’s ward, male and female wards, an adolescent centre, laboratory, dispensary, and an emergency room. It is equipped with modern medical tools including an infant incubator, ultrasound system, ECG machine, and neonatal care equipment.

“These buildings the Lordina Foundation is constructing are not merely structures; they are lifesavers,” she said, urging health workers to treat patients with dignity and compassion, and calling on the community to take good care of the facility.

With the upgrades, the Anyima Health Centre is expected to serve over 3,000 residents in Anyima, Amoma, Apesika, Jema, Kranbenko, and surrounding areas, providing a critical boost to healthcare access and maternal and infant wellbeing.
