Akurugu cuts sod for 8.2km Ashonman road, highlights one-year achievements
The Member of Parliament for Dome- Kwabenya Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Elikplim Akurugu, has highlighted her achievements in office, stating that her performance within one year surpasses that of some predecessors who served for decades without significant impact.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the 8.2-kilometre Virgin Ashonman Last Stop–Pure Water–Old Ashonman Road, the MP emphasised that the project reflects her commitment to addressing the pressing needs of her constituents.
“We had two MPs before who were not able to achieve this, but I have been able to do it within one year because of my lobbying efforts and the concerns I heard during my campaign tour,” she stated.
Elikplim Akurugu officially cut the sod to commence work on the road, which is expected to significantly improve transportation, ease traffic congestion, and enhance economic activities within the Ashonman enclave.
She further noted that the initiative is part of a broader development agenda aimed at delivering tangible results and improving living conditions in the constituency.
The project has been welcomed by residents, who anticipate that the completion of the road will boost accessibility and support local businesses in the area.
